About Mala Ventula – From Apartment Cleaning to a Full-Service Laundry

Mrs. Bruna, the owner of the Mala Ventula laundry in Split, began her career in tourism and hospitality. After years in hotel work, she opened her own apartment cleaning business. Very soon, however, she realized that the majority of her time and workload went into washing and ironing laundry.

“I understood that a laundry service had far greater potential than apartment cleaning itself,” recalls Mrs. Bruna. From that practical necessity, the idea of a laundry was born. She found a 50 m2 space close to both her home and clients and decided to take on a new entrepreneurial venture. That’s how Mala Ventula came to life – a laundry that, in just three years, grew into a serious and well-recognized business project.

The Challenge – How to Grow a Small Idea Into a Big Business

No new beginning is ever easy. Mrs. Bruna had no experience with the laundry business or professional equipment, and yet she faced the decision to invest. Everything started with her own resources and an enormous personal effort.

“I had never worked with professional laundry machines before, nor did anyone I knew. Until then, I only used a household washing machine. So, this was absolutely zero experience for me,” she admits.

The toughest period came during tourist season, when hundreds of kilos of laundry had to be processed daily. The pace was demanding, often going late into the night, while at the same time requiring her to build a client base in a city full of apartments, hotels, and villas.

“The busiest period is always from July to September. It’s tough, but I knew I was on the right path. What motivated me most was seeing how the business kept growing year by year,” says Bruna.

The Solution – Professional LG Equipment and Smart Investments

The first key to success was choosing the right partner. With the help of Bright World, Mala Ventula was equipped with LG professional washers and dryers, an ironing roller, and a dosing pump system. Ozone generators were also introduced, bringing an eco-friendly element to the business.

“From the very beginning, once we started working with ozone, the difference was huge. Clothes were whiter, softer, and that was without any fabric softeners. The first two or three months were astonishing – the change was incredible!” says Mrs. Bruna.

As the business grew, financing from the HAMAG BICRO fund enabled her to expand from three washers and dryers to six each. The dosing pumps also streamlined daily operations.

“Except for one machine, all are connected to the pump system. It makes life so much easier. In all this daily rush, you don’t need to worry about adding detergent or how much – it’s fully automated,” she explains.

The Results – 7 Tons of Laundry per Month and Growing

Today, Mala Ventula processes 7 to 9 tons of laundry per month, serving a wide range of clients – from apartments and hotels to luxury villas and charter boats. Professional dedication, smart investments, and tireless work have led to steady growth despite constant physical and organizational challenges.

The laundry has also gained recognition in the local community, not just in business. Although rarely mentioned publicly, Mrs. Bruna and her team often wash clothes free of charge for non-profit associations, women's safe houses, play centers, and those most in need.

“This is not a marketing move – it’s about simple humanity and goodwill. We will always find time for those who need it most,” says Mrs. Bruna, proving that Mala Ventula is built on both hard work and a big heart.

Beyond Laundry – When Mala Ventula Became a Music Video Set

One of the more unusual and memorable moments in the story of Mala Ventula happened when the laundry was chosen as a filming location for a music video by croatian singer Vojko V. The production team wanted a laundromat that looked modern, tidy, and “cinematic” – with neat rows of machines reminiscent of iconic American laundromats.

After visiting several locations and rejecting them all, they walked into Mala Ventula and immediately said, “This is it.” The professional LG equipment, clean layout, and modern look were a perfect fit for the video.

For several hours, the laundry transformed into a music set filled with cameras, lights, and creative energy. The result was an unexpected visibility boost – the business suddenly gained hundreds of new views and was recognized beyond the laundry industry.

For Mrs. Bruna, it was a charming reminder that a laundry can be more than a place of hard work – it can also serve as an inspiring stage.

The story of Mala Ventula shows that even with limited resources, a serious and successful business can be built.

“This is the hardest job I’ve ever done, but we’re growing every single year,” says Bruna. “You need courage and persistence – and then the effort always pays off.”

Today, Mala Ventula handles up to nine tons of laundry each month – achievements made possible with nothing more than determination and a complete line of LG professional equipment. Together with our distributors, we help businesses of every size unlock their full potential.
