Life in student dormitories can be very hectic as students have to balance their academic obligations with their everyday tasks.
One of these tasks includes doing laundry, which can be a difficult and time-consuming process for students who don't have easy access to appropriate washing facilities.
To address this need, the student dormitory at the University of Częstochowa, which houses 630 students, reached out to our Polish partner Bartosz last year to find a suitable solution.
As a result, the dormitory now boasts a modern self-service laundry that provides students with a convenient and efficient way to wash their clothes.
Challenge: Household appliances and frequent faults
"The student dormitory had a laundry equipped with household appliances that could not meet the needs of the students. These devices consumed a lot of electricity and water and were unable to handle the daily amounts of laundry, resulting in frequent faults and high costs," explains Bartosz. He further points out:
“Limiting unnecessary use, such as too little amount of laundry per cycle, was a challenge. To solve this issue, I proposed the modern payment system.”
The frequent faults caused a great deal of stress for both the students and the administration of the dormitory. It became clear that a more reliable and advanced solution was necessary.
Solution: A combination of professional washing machines and dryers for a student dormitory
In response to this challenge, according to Bartosz's advice, the administration decided on a combination that enables the efficient functioning of the self-service laundry in the dormitory:
- 4x LG Giant professional washing machine (10 kg capacity)
- 2x LG Giant professional dryer (10 kg capacity)
- App payment system
In addition to premium professional washers and dryers, Air Wallet - an advanced payment system through a mobile application - also contributed to the modernization of the laundry.
The system connects via Bluetooth and is easily installed inside LG professional devices. It also allows students to check availability and easily book an appointment to use the devices.
Results: Relief for both students and the dormitory administration
The transition to professional devices eliminated faults and maintenance issues, ensuring smooth service for students.
Dormitory management can now devote itself to other tasks, and a big plus is the reduction of energy costs that LG professional devices make possible.
Students' reactions to the availability of a modern laundromat in the dormitory are very positive. The capacity of the laundromat has doubled, and the flexible payment system allows students to plan their obligations easily.
