In May of this year, Mrs. Nikolina Badžim opened a self-service and OPL laundry called Wash 'n' Go in the city of Šibenik.
By mid-July, the laundry had already experienced a significant increase in interest, confirming that this business venture was a wise decision.
At the end of the successful first season, we spoke to Mrs. Nikolina about the inspiration behind opening her own laundry and her impressions.
Challenge: The first step
"The idea has been with me for a long time. I used to run a store specializing in paints and varnishes, with a special focus on the nautical industry. Through conversations with clients, I realized that there is a significant demand for laundries among nautical tourists, as well as other visitors and renters," Mrs. Nikolina recalls.
She reached out to Bright World for the best equipment and professional support for her business venture and then began planning.
From the start, she had a clear vision of the ideal location for the laundry: "Šibenik's Mandalina, a 'striking' and bustling area with a marina!"
"Also, considering that I chose a combination of OPL and self-service laundry, the convenient location is crucial for the self-service part, which operates 24/7."
"The space was not arranged, and Mrs. Nikolina was aware that it would require slightly higher financial expenditure. However, she saw it as an advantage to arrange it in a way that suited her best."
She combined her own budget with self-employment subsidy and a small loan to start the venture.

"My husband and I considered how to use the space optimally – this could go here, that there – and put the first sketch on paper. That sketch took on a whole new, more vibrant dimension when your team showed it to me through 3D modeling. There, I got a clearer picture of everything. I'm a visual type, and when I see something, I can immediately tell if that's what I want," explains Mrs. Nikolina.
Results: The first season exceeded all expectations
"The self-service part opened first and was mostly used by nautical tourists, which confirmed to me that I was thinking in the right direction," she says. "Now it's a whole range of users."
"Guests staying at apartments, hotels, hostels, and campsites now have a place where they can quickly and efficiently wash and dry their clothes. The laundry service has gained loyal users among apartment and villa renters, as well as hotels, hostels, and charters. With Wash 'n' Go, they always have fresh bed linen and towels at their disposal. Additionally, we offer laundry delivery services."
"This is a new laundry, and I was not a well-known name in the market, but the results exceeded all my expectations. I am simply delighted," says Mrs. Nikolina.
In addition to high-quality equipment and exceptional service, dedication to the marketing aspect also contributed to this tremendous success:
"Marketing is very important. I assembled a young team, and it turned out to be a complete success. They do a fantastic job of running the website and managing social media. The feedback is great, and many users find us this way."
